Larry Williams got me the first recording session, he and Larry McKinley, who was a disc jockey. I would learn the song right then, because most of the stuff Allen Toussaint wrote. If you did harmonies, it was everyone around the same microphone. MJ: I heard a story that Toussaint pushed you to sing more straight-ahead on that first session.
