Any suggestions on parties? We are a few girls in our mid thirties. Are we better buying tickets for something or bar hoping on bourbon? This post has been removed at the author's request. Fireworks on the Mississippi River
We're optimistic that the New Orleans new year celebrations won't be too adversely affected by the Covid restrictions, but please be aware that the following listed events will all be subject to change. New Orleans typically hosts some of the top new years eve celebrations in the country, drawing huge crowds to this popular city to see in the new year in true southern style , with a particular focus on live music, with several big name acts set to appear across the city's many top venues. The party here has for the last couple of years been centred around the Sugar Bowl Fan fest, which has been given added national exposure by also featuring as part of the Dick Clark New Year Rockin' Eve live broadcast from Times Square - we'll let you know if this will be happening again this year. The city's main NYE parties are centred around the famous French Quarter, with Jackson Square and the Jax Brewery providing the focal point for a series of events that help to welcome the new year in fine southern style. The Fan Fest gets underway on the 30th December but, unlike last year, the main focus of the party this year will once again be on the 31st December, new years eve itself. This party takes over the famous Jackson Square , in the Jax Brewery parking lot off Decatur Street, and runs from 12 noon until 6pm the day before new years eve with entertainment and football themed activities before returning to lead the NYE party from noon until mdinight. The events on the day itself include pep rallies for the teams playing in the Sugar Bowl, the mardi gras style parade see below and live music in the evening. The last few years now have seen New Orleans acting as the central time zone representative for the Dick Clark Rockin' New Years Eve party, running alongside the Fan Fest party with the headline live performances broadcast to the nation as part of the main new years eve TV coverage in the United States.
